The cuddly killer from the hit game Worms is now available as a suitably cuddly plush toy.

Worms is a massively popular game where opposing teams of hardy little worms attempt to do each other in, in a huge variety of bizarre and interesting ways. Now Team 17 (the software company that produced this madness) and AT New Media (the licensing agent) have announced a new range of Worms-themed products.

One of the craziest ways that the warrior worms annihilate one another is with the use of a Super Sheep, and these flying fellows will now be available as a soft toy, from Gaya. The cuddly killer is dressed in a cape, just like the one in the game, and also plays the trademark fanfare explosion noise when squeezed.

Posters featuring an angry looking army of the worms and emblazoned with the sinister slogan, ‘We’ll Get You!’ can also now be purchased from GB Posters. The brightly-coloured poster shows five of the worms, all dressed to kill.

Other Worms merchandise is set to launch throughout 2012.

New from MINT Toys, the people who brought us the Chuckle Buddies, these soft-bodied toys bounce around making animal noises and having a good old side-splitting laugh about something. Whatever the joke is, you may find their laughter infectious and end up giggling along without really knowing why.

Four characters are available in the range, priced around £14.99 each: Giggle Frog, Giggle Dog, Giggle Monkey and Giggle Pig. The fun starts as soon as you switch them on and then wave to activate the motion sensor on their tummy. These are suitable pets for children aged three and over.

You can have a sneak preview of all the hilarity on YouTube – see if you can watch it without at least cracking a smile!

Gadget shop Red5 has updated this idea for the 21st century, and delivered a modern-day messenger bird to the toy market.

These new gadgets are called Chuckimals and are related to the Chatimals brand. Shaped like little birds, by pressing down on a wing you can record a message of up to four seconds (in any language of course) and then literally chuck the soft round bird in the direction of the recipient.

When the bird is caught by (or hits – depends on the tone of the message perhaps!) the intended recipient, the message plays automatically.

The cute and cheeky messengers are priced around £11.95 each.

These new Ponies Gone Wild are three-inch-long plush toys, with bright colours and vibrant patterns in the place of traditional coats and markings.

The pocket-size stuffed ponies have a string-like mane and tail, and Daisy, Rosy, Cherry, Violet, Pinky and Sky all have bright colours with patterns such as flowers and hearts.

They are joined by the final three in the line who have really taken the ‘wild’ part of their name to heart and are imitating safari animals; Zena looks like a zebra, Lina looks like a lion and Gina makes up the trio looking like a Giraffe.

Priced around £4.49 each, the ponies are suitable for children aged three and over.

This soft, huggable and fairly realistic looking pup will give you (almost) all the love and fun of a real dog.

Buying your child their first pet is no longer such a difficult decision, thanks to the lifelike pets in Hasbro’s FurReal range. The newest addition to the line is Cookie My Playful Pup. This soft, huggable and fairly realistic looking pup will give you (almost) all the love and fun of a real dog, by barking, playing and responding to your voice and touch.

Voice-recognition technology enables this clever toy to respond to her master’s voice, reacting like a real pup by moving her head, blinking and barking. Sensors located in the dog’s head and cheeks are activated when you pat and cuddle your new pet and Cookie will make happy, squeaky puppy noises to let you know she appreciates the attention.

Playful as any pup, Cookie has a squeaky toy that she will track with her eyes and head as it’s moved in front of her.

We can’t imagine the fun wearing off, but it’s nice to know that if it does you won’t be left feeding and walking a real dog forever. CookiePie does have her own collar and dog bone (which she ‘crunches’ on when you put it in her mouth) so your child of four and over can pretend to care for her, in preparation for the real thing one day.

The 14in. tall pup requires four ‘C’ batteries once the temporary ones wear out, and is priced around £69.99.

Together they make up ‘Da Easy Crew’, fighting crime and working together to catch ‘teefin’ criminals and making a ‘bad ting good’. Each episode promotes a message of love and respect.

Thanks to Character, children aged three and over can now own talking and singing versions of all four main characters, for around £12.99 each.

The soft and cuddly characters are nine inches tall, and pressing their tummies activates their personal phrases and the Rastamouse theme tune (which is so catchy that if you know it you’ll be singing it all afternoon after reading this…)

Let’s Rock Elmo from Playskool is dressed for his big concert in a cool and casual style, sporting a black rock t-shirt with a bolt of lightning through his name (perhaps warning you of the electrifying performance he’s about to give).

He’s a bit of a one-man band actually – he rocks the mic and accompanies himself on the tambourine and drum. Elmo recognises which instrument you have handed to him and actually plays them (he will also play any of the other instruments in the Let’s Rock range).

Children over the age of 18 months can help take the pressure off the entertainer by having a go on one of the working instruments or by playing a Let’s Rock Guitar, Keyboard or Microphone (also in the range) which Elmo will recognise and start playing along with.

This hairy rock god is available for around £69.99.

The Winnie the Pooh Interactive Friend has almost as much to say for himself as the classic character, as he will chat away all day.

As the Winnie the Pooh film comes out on DVD, children can own a very modern version of the loveable bear. The Winnie the Pooh Interactive Friend from Worlds Apart has almost as much to say for himself as the classic character, as he will chat away to your little one all day, uttering over 50 phrases.

The things he says aren’t just random either; as if by magic, Pooh will comment on your child’s activities as they go about their daily routine. Parents can programme Pooh so that he engages with your child, from asking to get dressed first thing in the morning to wishing them a good night at bedtime.

Pooh also knows exactly what time to mention that he’s got a ‘rumbly in his tumbly’ and sit companionably with his honey pot and spoon while your child eats. At playtime, he can indulge in a cute hide-and-seek game.

Priced around £39.99, the toy is suitable for children from 12 months upwards and can keep them company all day long (and all night long too, although he will refuse to play at night-time and will only snore loudly if your little one tries to have a chat during the small hours).
