Chatterboxes

The art of conversation is not dead if these new card games are anything to go by. The Art of Conversation (TAOC) games are designed to get everyone talking, with the simple aim of improving communication skills.

Joining the original and children’s versions of the game are two new themes ‒ Travel and Literary. Packed into attractive little boxes, the games come with 100 cards, each containing three questions to kick-start a conversation.

In the travel version, for instance, you might be asked if you have ever seen a geyser or blowhole, while the literary theme starts off with the simple question, ‘Why read?’.

There’s a 24-page guidebook to outline the nine different modes of play (including a solo option, for those who don’t mind talking to themselves) and to provide endnotes explaining some of the key terms in each theme.

As well as the obvious uses in social gatherings, the strong educational applications make TAOC suitable for teachers, students and book groups as well.

The Art of Conversation games are priced around £9.99 each.
