Explorers wanted
LeapFrog’s Leapster handheld has been upgraded into the new Leapster Explorer and now boasts the biggest, brightest screen LeapFrog has ever offered.
With Flash and 3D graphics technology, LeapFrog also reckons this handheld delivers the most powerful gameplay the company has ever produced as well.
The Leapster Explorer, priced around £59.99, comes in a choice of colours (green or pink) and serves up educational games for kids aged from four to nine.
Games have an auto-adjust feature, which tailors gameplay to the skills and abilities of the child playing, and the Explorer can also remember a child’s progress, allowing the level of difficulty to increase appropriately.
E-books, videos and games can all be delivered on the Explorer, with a range of activities and games built-in to help with spelling, mathematics, creativity, social studies, science and reading – and the autumn will also see a new camera accessory released.
Hook up to the internet via a PC and kids can access the LeapWorld environment, where they can enjoy extra games and activities, while parents can log into the LeapFrog Learning Path to track their child’s progress.
More games can be added, for around £19.99 each, from a selection including Star Wars The Clone Wars, Dora the Explorer, The Penguins of Madagascar, Disney Princesses, Toy Story 3, Wolverine and the X-Men, SpongeBob SquarePants, Ben 10 and Tinker Bell.
