HarumikaYoung girls with a flair for fashion can now design their own line of clothing, with Harumika, the new Japanese arts and crafts concept from Bandai.

Girls can re-create a favourite outfit of their own, or design a brand new one, and with everything being reusable, the only limit is their imagination.

The startlingly-simple system requires no needle, sewing machine, thread or scissors. You simply choose a piece of fabric, wrap it stylishly around the Harumika dress form (like a mini mannequin) and tuck the ends into the clever ‘Style Lock System’ on the back, using a special stylus tool.

HarumikaThe Harumika Style Starter Set is priced around £19.99 and includes a dress form, a variety of fabrics and the plastic stylus tool for securing the outfits in place. Also included are fashion accessories, a rhinestone sheet to add a bit of bling, and fashion stickers in the shape of pockets, buttons, flowers and ribbons to put those finishing touches to the outfits.

When the design is just right, you can take a picture and upload it at the Harumika website, where members view and vote on each other’s designs.
