Airfix’s famous five

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is dedicated to preserving the memory of planes like the Spitfire, the Hurricane and the Lancaster bomber, by keeping original planes airworthy.

Airfix’s new Battle of Britain Fighter Collection captures five of the BBMF’s fighter planes in 1:72 scale. They aren’t exactly airworthy, but you do get a five-plane display stand to make it look like they’re flying.

The Spitfire Mk IIa, Spitfire MkVb, Spitfire Mk LFIXe, Spitfire Mk PRXIX, and Hurricane Mk IIc come with Humbrol paints (12 colours), paint brushes and glue, and the set is priced around £34.99. It is rated at Airfix skill level 2.
