Grand designs

The Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser is a fitting mode of transport for Grand Chancellor Palpatine, and LEGO’s version is certainly on a grand scale.

Comprised of 1,170 pieces, the finished cruiser measures 50.8cm in length and 30.5cm in width. As you might imagine, that gives room to pack plenty of stuff inside, not the least of which are the five minifigures – the Grand Chancellor himself, a pair of elite Senate Bodyguards in natty blue outfits, a Clone Trooper Pilot and a Clone Trooper Gunner.

The Chancellor’s command centre can be found by lifting the front section of the cruiser, while there a hidden cannons under the lifting wing sections and bombs for dropping on anyone the Chancellor feels like obliterating.

For ages 9–14, the Attack Cruiser is priced around £97.85.

Stepping back into the original Star Wars world, the Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser recreates the Rebel flagship as it takes part in the attack on the Empire’s second Death Star.

The command centre comes with six minifigures – Admiral Ackbar, MonMothma, General Lando Calrissian, General Madine, a Mon Calamari officer and a Green Squadron A-wing pilot.

With a Death Star ‘hologram’, a Green Squadron A-wing Starfighter and a repair hangar, the set is made up of 789 pieces and is priced around £88, for ages 9–14.

The new Midi-scale Millennium Falcon completes the new additions. For ages 7–14, the set includes 356 pieces (but does not come with any minifigures) and measures 23.5cm long when completed.

The ship has a rotating radar dish and twin moveable laser cannons. It is priced around £29.35.
