Playmobil is all at sea
Playmobil has turned its attention to the ocean depths with the new Nautical Expedition range. The powerful Expedition Ship (priced around £29.99) leads the way, with a transparent viewing bottom and working winch.
There’s a crew of three on hand to man the ship (captain, cabin boy and diver), as well as a selection of tools to help them locate the lost treasure on the ocean floor. The Expedition Ship floats (a big relief for the captain) and can be fitted with Playmobil’s underwater motor.
The Research Submarine, priced around £24.99, is available when something at the bottom of the sea (or bath) needs a closer look. The cabin is waterproof and the sub comes with a motor, grab arms and a crew of two. The diving depth is adjustable using the pump provided.
When not searching for treasure, the crew of the expedition can enjoy some of nature’s wonders in two sets priced around £14.99 each. The Tropical Reef set sees two lucky divers experiencing the beauty of a coral reef, complete with multi-coloured tropical fish.
The Researcher, meanwhile, is charting the behavioural patterns of a very large whale. His small boat can be fitted with a motor to help him keep up with the mighty beast.
Three more diving sets complete the line-up. The Deep Sea Diving Bell (around £9.99) submerges and has a crew of one in search of a valuable ancient statue. The Shark Diver (also around £9.99) is a bit of a thrill-seeker, but not so reckless that he would venture into these dangerous waters without a safety cage. An inquisitive shark and eel (which looks like it could get between those bars very easily) are keeping an eye on him. Finally, the Deep Sea Diver (around £4.99) has a smart yellow diving suit and accessories for underwater exploration.
The entire range is suitable for kids of four and older.
