Britains John Deere 6430The Britains Big Farm line-up has some new additions to give pre-schoolers a taste of the country. Having originally launched last year, the 1:16 scale range is aimed at the 3+ age group, but retains the usual Britains’ authenticity.

The range now has its first radio-controlled model, with the launch of the Radio Control John Deere 6430 Tractor. Priced around £49.99, it has an easy operating system for youngsters to get to grips with and accurate detailing to enhance role-play value.

The Hitachi 200LC Excavator (pictured, around £39.99) has a giant, moveable digger arm and rotating tracks. It is joined by the Chevrolet Pick-up Truck (around £29.99) and the Bobcat S300 Skid-Steer (around £16.99).

Recent research carried out for Britains by child psychologist Dr. Amanda Gummer has highlighted the value of toys like the Big Farm range.

“Playing with farm toys will often produce questions and discussions about working on farms, animals, food production etc.” said Amanda, “and can help children gain confidence by increasing their understanding of the world.

“It can also assist with social development as children will act out scenarios, dictating actions of the characters and thus develop their understanding of how people interact.”
