Pippin to join Breyer legends
Red Rum, Milton, Seabiscuit… the list of famous horses to be modelled in Breyer’s Traditional Series is long and illustrious. Now, a 21-year-old blue roan Connemara pony from Denbigh is to join the ranks.
Pippin is owned by 11-year-old Oliver Jones, a member of the Flint and Denbigh Branch of The Pony Club and winner of the latest competition run by Breyer.
Breyer invited Pony Club members to write an essay explaining why their horse is special, with the prize being the chance to see that horse honoured as a Breyer Traditional model.
“Breyer produce only a handful of ‘portrait’ models around the world every year,” explained Breyer’s Tony Mills, “so we knew that we would be looking for a very special horse or pony to be our winner, and we are delighted we have found a fantastic pony like Pippin who will become an extra special Breyer model.”
Judy Edwards at The Pony Club added: “I am delighted that The Pony Club’s association with Breyer has been so successful. The response was high and the winning entry epitomises what The Pony Club is all about; learning, fun, confidence, friendship and the development of love and respect for an animal friend.”
The model of Pippin is due to be on sale by January 2009 and you can read Oliver’s winning essay in full on the Breyer website.
