ToyTalk’s Top Ten Girls’ Toys
Following our Top Ten Boys’ Toys last week, here is our considered opinion on the best new toys for girls.
There was certainly no shortage of new products to consider and we’ve had to make more than a few tough decisions, but here, in alphabetical order, is our Top Ten:
Baby born boy from Zapf Creation
What Christmas line-up would be complete without a traditional doll? The long-awaited Baby born boy is just as clever as his sister, and will be hugely popular with girls who dream of having their own little brother (and not nearly as messy as the real thing).
Cella Accessory Machine from Tomy
Girls love creating their own accessories and the Cella Accessory Machine gives them almost endless options. It comes with a selection of sparkly beads and components, but can also be used with pictures and photographs to create personalised items.
Deluxe Wood Barn from Breyer
This is a beautifully crafted, real wood barn that is big enough (over half a metre high) to accommodate two of Breyer’s Traditional Series horses. The perfect accessory for any little girl with a love of horses.
Dora the Explorer TV Phone from VTech
Dora, with her feisty, can-do attitude, is a great role-model for kids and this TV Phone lets girls (and boys) join in with Dora and Boots on one of their adventures. Numbers, letters and Spanish are all introduced as well!
Groovy Girls from Manhattan Toy
The Groovy Girls are bright, colourful dolls with a funky, confident appearance that appeals to young girls. The new additions to the poseable dolls line build on the Groovy Girls themes of personal style, diversity and friendship.
Heavenly Incense Science Kit from Interplay
Learn how to blend scents to create heavenly odours! This set is not only great fun for girls of 10 and older, it’s also educational, teaching the ancient arts of incense making.
High School Musical Mystery Date from Hasbro
A real date with a High School Musical character isn’t a realistic Christmas wish, but the next best thing can be had in the shape of this board game that lets young girls prepare for a mystery date with Ryan, Troy, Zeke or Chad.
Malvern Manor from Joy Toys
This beautiful dolls house is part of the Heritage Playsets range. In Georgian style, it features four big rooms, an attic space and opening windows. It comes with six dolls and furniture to get you started.
My Model Magic Hair from Zapf Creation
With hairdressing being among the most popular prospective career choices among young girls, this styling head lets them try it out without fear of upsetting family members or friends. It even comes with extra hair for when the styling head runs out (unlike real customers).
Royal Ballet Dancing Lilya from Golden Bear
Lilya is not only a poseable doll, she can also dance to music from some of the most famous ballets, including Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty. Irresistible for all little girls who dream of being a ballet dancer.
