Playmobil’s Romans get reinforcements

As promised, here are more details of Playmobil’s new Romans. The remaining items allow you to add extra soldiers to other sets in the range.

The Roman Warriors set comes with five soldiers (including a standard-bearer) and a firing crossbow. There are shields, swords and spears (or pilum, for those who know their Asterix). They cost around £9.99.

More firepower comes in the form of the Firing Catapult, which can hurl flaming missiles at anybody who stands up to the Roman legions. There are two soldiers to operate the catapult (and they look very happy in their work, it must be said) and you get three fiery missiles. The price is around £6.99.

Telling everybody where to go and who to fight is the job of the emperor, and you can get one for your Playmobil Roman world for around £3.99. With a gold laurel wreath, some grapes and a goblet of wine, he’s all ready to read out the latest law he’s just passed.

The Warrior with Horse (around £3.99) looks rather important in his gold armour and red cloak and he comes with a mighty steed to carry him into battle. Assemble a few of these together and you’ve got an instant cavalry regiment.

Other Roman soldiers are available through Playmobil’s direct service. You can get a set of three warriors or three legionaries for around £6.25 a set, plus Centurion and Tribune figures for around £2 each.
