The Girl Crush line, from Spin Master, is packed with fun fashion items for young girls. We looked at the Streak & Style Tongs and the Glitter Air Brush Tattoo sets, priced at around £19.99 each.
The Streak & Style set allows girls to indulge in their natural passion for dying their hair, but in a safe, quick and non-permanent way. The set comes with four colours – Moonstone Silver, Sugar Pink, Hot Pink and Cool Blue – with which to add streaks to your hair.
To use, you simply load the tongs with sponges and a small amount of the dye, then separate a section of hair, running it through the tongs to apply the colour.
You should comb through the dyed hair to even out any colour imbalances (and the more you comb the lighter the colour gets, allowing you to control the colour density). The dye will dry in about 15 minutes and will easily wash out.
The Glitter Air Brush Tattoo set uses a battery-powered airbrush to spray washable paint through supplied tattoo stencils. There are five colours supplied (red, blue, yellow, purple and green) and you can combine colours for more elaborate tattoos, or stick with a single colour. Body glitter and stickers can be added to spice things up further.
Using the airbrush is a bit of an art form and it may take a while to master it. It’s good news, therefore, that the 50 tattoo stencils are all reusable.
We pressed these items into service at a girls’ party, with a group of six- and seven-year-olds keen to try them out. Both products were a big hit.
Ease of use was a big plus point, with the girls quickly getting to grips with the techniques required and some of them becoming quite expert. The Tattoo set in particular allows for more advanced designs and colouring as you get more adept, but even the most basic one-colour tattoos were greeted with delight.
Either of these would obviously make great presents for any little girl who enjoys playing with makeup, and they would be a sure-fire hit at a party (an added bonus with the Tattoo set is that boys are keen to get in on the action as well).
We think these sets represent great value for money and have no hesitation in awarding our Top Toy badge.
Durability: 4/5
Longevity: 4/5
Value: 5/5
Score: 90%
Conclusion: Great fun products for girls (and even boys!)

Hi Nahime,
The Air Brush Tattoo set requires four type C batteries. The Streak & Style Tongs do not need batteries.
Hope this was helpful!
